I absolutely agree with you Coach DRE! Hydration is very important. Especially in the hot Arizona heat your body is always dehydrated no matter how much water you drink. For football players it is essential that you drink water and water and even more water. This helps when it comes time to exert all your energy during preseason conditioning and during the season. When you don't drink water you risk the potential for heat exhaustion and possibly a potentially life threatening emergency.
You ask does drinking Gatorade or other sugary sports drinks keep the human body hydrated. Well I do not think this is a good idea to drink sports drink as a replacement for water. The sports drinks are meant to help replace sugars and electrolytes lost during strenuous exercising. Children should not drink a whole Gatorade or sports drink either after working out due to the high sugar content in these drinks can trigger diabetes. Drinking half should do the trick and then rehydrate the body with water and more water.
Finally during practice you are always going to feel thirsty but remember drinking water moderately will prevent water logging and vomiting. Kids on my team will always have water breaks and our coaches will not ever allow kids not to drink water.

Not all food is good but not all good food is good for you! Remember the more sugar you take in the more chance you'll have of dehydrating yourself on the football field! Be smart because conditioning is just arond the corner and you don't want to make it harder on yourselves by making the wrong decisions. Vegetables won't kill you I promise!!!

The Arizona heat is brutal on the kids. Make sure your kids are drinking enough water throughout the day... 6-8 glasses!
